NORWALK, Conn., Sept. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- IDrive Inc. today announced that its IDrive Express service was selected as a winner of the Best of Show Award for Best Consumer Offering at ITEXPO, held August 27-29, 2013, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Winners of the prestigious Best of Show Award program are reserved for products or services that demonstrate raw creativity and technological innovation.
The IDrive Express is a free service for IDrive users, created for faster backup and retrieval of several gigabytes of data to or from an IDrive account. A temporary storage device is shipped to the user in order to quickly transfer up to 1 TB of data with no bandwidth usage. Data is completely safe throughout the process, stored and encrypted with military grade 256-bit AES encryption and the option for a private key. IDrive Express is the only consumer-focused service of its kind.
Cloud storage solutions, with complimentary apps for smartphones and tablets, aren't anything new – and there's no shortage of popular services like Apple's iCloud, Google Drive, Microsoft's SkyDrive, Dropbox, Box, SugarSync, and so on.
These password-protected services protect your valuable data from local threats, such as theft, fire, flood, viruses, power surges and hard drive malfunctions.
While not as well-known as these players, IDrive is one to consider as it also focuses heavily on the mobile space. For example, it offers one-touch back-up of all your key mobile files – such as calendars, contacts, photos and videos – as well as an auto backup option the moment a new photo or video is taken with your device. The Android app also lets you backup text messages, call logs and apps.
Do we have too much digital junk cluttering up our hard drives, or are our average upload speeds of 5.29 Mbps in the U.S. just too slow? That’s the question the launch of IDrive’s Digital Express service raises.
Online backup service IDrive today announced a new service that allows its users to back up large amounts of data to the cloud. Instead of waiting around for days to upload what are often hundreds of gigabytes of data, IDrive now ships hard disks to its users so they can back up to a terabyte of data to the cloud. The users then ship the drive back to IDrive and the company enables the data on their account. After this, users can continue to use the company’s regular online backup service to send incremental updates to IDrive and, of course, restore their data from their cloud backup.
IDrive has created easy cloud-based backup for businesses. Now it’s launching IDrive Express to do the same thing for consumers. The Calabasas, Calif.-based company is launching IDrive Express today with consumers in mind. The backup storage company realized that some of its customers using its business backup service were consumers who just had a lot of data. So it created the new service for everyone to use.
